The Fireface UFX III: The Multichannel Flagship Interface
The Fireface UFX III is the centerpiece of any multitrack studio, effortlessly handling up to 94 channels of I/O. Its unparalleled flexibility, compatibility, and the inclusion of DURec (Direct USB Recording) combined with RME's renowned low-latency hardware and driver designs ensure flawless operation in any mode and application.
Packed with professional features, the Fireface UFX III is the preferred tool for discerning professionals. It boasts SteadyClock FS, MADI I/O (64 channels), a powerful DSP, USB 3.0 (full 94-channel I/O Class Compliant ready), TotalMix FX, Direct USB Recording, and support for the Advanced Remote Control USB (available separately).
Newly developed analog and digital boards power the Fireface UFX III. The analog board offers DC-coupled analog outputs and new AD and DA converters with improved THD+N performance, while the digital board enables exciting new features thanks to updated high-tech components.
The Fireface UFX III operates in two modes: driver-based USB 3 and Class Compliant. The Class Compliant mode is a standard natively supported by Windows, macOS, and Linux, requiring no proprietary drivers - the device is immediately recognized when the CC firmware is loaded. The Fireface UFX III is RME's first audio interface with full USB 3.0 support in Class Compliant Mode, making all channels available for driverless operation on Linux, Mac, and iPadOS.
DURec, the integrated digital recorder, allows recording all inputs and outputs directly to USB memory devices via the front USB port. Recordings can be made on USB thumb drives or hard drives with up to 2 TB capacity, with the DSP-powered functionality independent of the connected computer.
The optional ARC USB remote control connects to your computer via USB and communicates directly with TotalMix FX. It features 15 freely assignable and illuminated buttons, one encoder wheel, and a TS jack for a foot switch, providing seamless hands-on control.
The Fireface UFX III's comprehensive MADI connectivity opens the door to a host of RME and third-party digital and analog I/O solutions. Multiple external MADI devices can be connected in series, and the interface offers features like switching the word clock BNC to MADI I/O (coaxial) and a special split mode supporting the simultaneous use of both MADI I/Os.
Uniquely, the Fireface UFX III's line-level outputs are fully DC-coupled, allowing for the sending of control voltages (CV) or gate information to modular synthesizers and other studio hardware.
The Fireface UFX III comes bundled with the TotalMix FX DSP mixer, offering extensive routing and monitoring options, as well as the DigiCheck Analyzer for precision measurement and analysis of digital audio streams. TotalMix FX can replace an external mixer, enabling the creation of multiple latency-free monitor mixes with EQ, dynamics, reverb, and delay for any outputs, including main monitors and headphone mixes.
The included TotalMix Remote allows remote control of the hardware mixer and effects, mirroring the entire mixing state, routing, and FX settings in real-time on iPad and Windows/Mac computers.
